No matter the time you can give or the talents you can share, we have a ministry that will welcome you. We invite you to contact us about any of the following opportunities:
ADVISORY BOARD
Our Advisory Board is comprised of church members who oversee the governing of Holy Nativity to ensure that we are running smoothly and in line with our mission.
ACOLYTES
Acolytes serve in various roles and are an integral part of the worship experience. The Lay Eucharistic Minister (Chalicist) assists Mother Karen with distributing the bread and wine for Holy Communion. The Thurifer carries the censer (incense), the Crucifer carries the cross, and Torch Bearers carry lit candles mounted on poles for use during the liturgy.
ALL GOD’S CHILDREN
This week-long, all-volunteer-run camp is part of The Baltimore Children’s Peace Center, an organization currently helmed by Holy Nativity member, Stacey Brown. All God’s Children camp originated at Holy Nativity, and it takes place every summer at the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland’s Claggett Center in Frederick. The camp brings together children from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds to help them enjoy and appreciate their differences, explore new activities, and learn important skills such as how to swim. Holy Nativity supports All God’s Children both financially and by providing volunteers to serve at camp.
ALTAR GUILD
This ministry is one of the most important at Holy Nativity. Altar Guild duties include polishing, preparing, and cleaning vessels before and after Holy Communion, washing and ironing vestments, arranging the altar prior to service, and hanging banners/preparing the sanctuary for special seasons/services.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Our Christian Education programs are designed to enhance the worship experience outside of the service, encourage fellowship, and create a deeper understanding of how to live the life God wants for you. Volunteers who help with this ministry work with Mother Karen and assist in planning and delivering of these programs. We hold a regular Bible study on Wednesday nights via Zoom, as well as special sessions throughout the year.
COMMUNITY CHOIR
Come be a part of the joy of Gospel music in a vibrant and inclusive community choir! Soloists, singers, and musicians of all kinds are invited to join us. We will rehearse once per week and will perform during Holy Nativity’s service one Sunday per month and at community events.
FUNDRAISING
This ministry is essential to the life of Holy Nativity. We are always in need of volunteers to plan and implement a variety of fundraising events, such as dinners, excursions, and products to sell. Any and every idea is welcome!
HOSPITALITY
These friendly faces assure that members and guests are welcome in church, at coffee hour, and other church events. Our coffee hour is held every Sunday after the service and is a wonderful time for members both new and old as well as guests to enjoy fellowship together.
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY BASKETS/CHRISTMAS GIFT GIVING
We help ensure food security during Thanksgiving and a brighter Christmas for members of the Park Heights-Pimlico community. We maintain a list of community members in need; if you or someone you know could benefit from our assistance, please contact us.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES
All children are welcome … and help from adults is especially welcome! We offer a lot of fun activities throughout the year for children in kindergarten through 8th grade, including game nights, movie nights, and Vacation Bible School.
YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY/THE IMANI PROJECT
This is a spiritual development program for all Park Heights-Pimlico community members ages 18 to 35. Please take a look at The Imani Project page for more information.
